She admitted that she had no prior understanding of web series when she first auditioned but was instantly drawn to the project she ultimately booked. "I really took it seriously when I was auditioning for it...I really, really wanted it," she said, referring to her first role as a royal character.

Grant described her first vertical drama as transformative. She recalled the excitement of earning her first significant paycheck, telling her mother, "I was like, 'Oh my God, Mom, guess what, I'm making, like, blah blah blah every day for this web series thing.' I wasn't sure what it was, but I was like, 'Hey, I'm making money acting like it's so cool.'"

Grant also discussed the importance of perspective in a competitive industry. While some actors gauge success by landing on giant streaming companies or network TV roles, she highlighted that vertical dramas provide valuable opportunities for consistent work and professional growth.

"We have different paths on when we're supposed to, you know, get our spotlight time. I mean, someday it will happen, but right now, though, I'm riding this wave," she told Collins.

Another Side of Ashley Michelle Grant Off-Screen

Outside of acting, Grant nurtures her creativity through painting and photography. In January 2022, she shared a video of herself painting Glasgow, which she created as a gift for her grandmother, who described it as "absolutely fab."

She later launched a dedicated art page, @artsybyashley, where she initially shared paintings inspired by France, South Dakota, and vibrant portraits.

Over time, the page evolved to feature photography, including behind-the-scenes glimpses from sets, travel snapshots, and close-up portraits.
