Luke Brewer: The Face of Vertical Drama's Most Compelling Villains
Luke Brewer is the kind of actor who discovered his passion at a young age, but he may not have realized his penchant for playing villainous characters until much later, when it earned him an award nomination.
The early careers of many actors and actresses these days are looking pretty different. They're no longer limited to small roles in some shows and movies until they get their big break.
Instead, Luke Brewer and many of his peers have found a decent income and started gaining recognition independently, thanks to the vertical stories that are taking the world by storm. He has already appeared in both supporting and major characters in over 20 miniseries, so let's get to know him better!
Luke Brewer: His Background
Brewer was born in New York and quickly discovered what he wanted for his future. Therefore, he began training in live theater at the Gateway Acting School.
Later, he went further with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting at SUNY Fredonia, not just in classical performance but also for film, which was unheard of for the program.
He produced and starred in shorts during his time at school, while also performing in plays around the country. Although New York can be viewed as a place for the stars, Brewer moved to Los Angeles after graduation, and once there, Brewer trained at Studio24Seven.
Some of his appearances in shorts include "Love's a Wash," "You Deserve to Die," and "Death's a Toast." He also appeared in movies like "Bad Education," "The Puppetman," and "Gladiators," and had an uncredited role in the TV show "The Bay."
Aside from regular acting, he can also do combat scenes, voice-overs, and is great with dialects and impressions. He is also a great swimmer, ice-skater, and baseball player.
Luke Brewer: His Vertical Dramas
In 2024, he appeared in his first vertical drama, "My Cold-Blooded Alpha King," playing an infected werewolf, and has had consistent work since then, particularly in the role of villains.
During a June 2025 interview with NDB Media, the actor revealed that he got into micro-dramas thanks to a friend. After moving to LA, Brewer was just trying to survive when he got a call from someone he had worked with in a haunted house who asked if he was interested in a soap opera-type project.
"And it was the start of something that I was not expecting to just take off. And I literally found myself unbelievably busy after that," Brewer shared.
Some of his other verticals include "Will You Be My Love Again?," "My Billion Dollar Waiter," "The Double Life of My Secret Husband," "The Double Life of the True Heiress," "My Firefighter Ex-Husband Burns in Regret," "The 99th Runaway Bride," "All I Want for Christmas," and "My Ex-Wife Is a Superwoman," where he plays the evil Alex Wilson.
During his conversation with NDB Media, a fan asked how much he related to that character on a scale of one to ten. Between laughs, the actor said that maybe one or two, but mostly because during one of his scenes, the main female character, played by Noémi VanSlyke, hits him in his private place, and he knows the pain of that.
His work in this vertical resonated with fans as he was nominated for Best Villain at the Vertical Drama Love Fan Awards in 2024. On the subject of playing good guys or bad guys, Brewer said that the evil characters had more freedom.
He can do more and show some of his studies as a clown and his experiences in physical comedy. His only wish would be for villains to be more involved in the stories.
"For me, a vertical drama series is a chance to show what you have. I think it is a good place to fold your cards in and see what you are going to bring to the table," Brewer commented when asked how he would define this format.
Be sure to also check Brewer out in "Love in the Shadows," where he plays Marcus, another antagonist, "Badass Plumber Girl is the Hidden Heiress," "The Rise of Ms. Lyra," "The Real Heiress Strikes Back," "The Queen Strikes Back with Three Tycoons," "The Mafia's Forbidden Virgin," and countless others.
