From performing in community theater with her family to working on cars and appearing in vertical dramas, Elise Luthman has followed an unconventional path in entertainment. Here's a look at the actress, producer, and motorcycle enthusiast behind the growing résumé.

For most of her life, Elise Luthman has been surrounded by acting. Long before audiences discovered her through projects like "The Boy I Hate," she was performing alongside her family in community theater productions, building a career that would eventually span television, film, producing, and, more recently, vertical dramas.

But acting is only one part of Luthman's story. Away from film sets, she spends time working on cars, riding motorcycles, creating custom-painted jackets, and pursuing creative projects of her own. The combination makes her one of the more unconventional performers working in the vertical drama space today.

Growing Up in an Acting Family

Luthman was born in Dayton, Ohio, and is the youngest of seven siblings. Acting was already a part of family life long before she began pursuing it professionally.

She grew up participating in community theater productions alongside her brothers and sisters, developing a love of performance through those shared experiences.

One of the biggest influences on her early career was her brother, actor Joey Luthman. In interviews, Elise has recalled following him to auditions and acting classes as a child, curious about what he was doing.

At the time, however, she was far from the confident performer audiences know today.

"I was still very shy. I didn't want to be in front of the camera," she said.

Her parents encouraged her to continue attending classes, including improv training that helped her gradually break out of her shell. Over time, acting transformed from something she resisted into something she genuinely loved.

Looking back, she describes her upbringing as unusual but one she would not change:

"My childhood was very unique, to say the least. I, however, wouldn't have it any other way!"

Building a Career in Front of the Camera

Luthman's professional career began at a young age and continued steadily as she moved from child actor to adult performer. Her résumé includes appearances in television series such as "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Henry Danger," "The Politician," "Euphoria," and "Side Hustle."

One of her favorite experiences came while filming Nickelodeon's "Side Hustle," where she appeared alongside her brother as a pair of Dutch villain twins.

"Getting to be in an energetic comedy with my brother was a dream come true," she shared.

While many performers focus solely on acting, Luthman has long been interested in what happens behind the camera as well. She created, wrote, produced, and starred in the Disney Maker Studios web series "Short Girls Club," gaining experience in multiple aspects of production at an early stage of her career.

She has often spoken about the importance of continuing to create rather than waiting for opportunities to arrive, noting, "I enjoy every aspect of the industry."

That curiosity has led her to explore writing, producing, and content creation alongside her acting work.

The Actress Who Loves Cars and Motorcycles

One of the things that makes Luthman stand out from many actors is her passion for cars and motorcycles.

Her social media profiles describe her as both an actress and a mechanic, and her interest goes far beyond a casual hobby. In interviews, she has discussed changing oil, replacing spark plugs, maintaining vehicles, and working on automotive projects herself.

She is also an avid motorcycle rider and a fan of MotoGP racing.

That adventurous spirit was tested in 2019 when she was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that left her with multiple injuries and a lengthy recovery. Rather than hiding the experience, Luthman chose to share parts of that journey publicly.

The response surprised her. By being honest about the difficult parts of recovery, she found that people connected with her vulnerability.

The experience also strengthened her appreciation for life and reinforced the importance of pursuing what genuinely excites her. She said:

"I'm just trying to follow the things that light a fire inside of me."

Entering the World of Vertical Dramas

After building a career across television, film, and independent projects, Luthman has recently become familiar to vertical drama audiences through projects including "The Boy I Hate," “Pregnant by My Ex’s Professor Dad,” “Reborn to Love Mr. Right,” “Daddy Help! Mommy’s in Prison!” and “Game of Choice.”

This represents another chapter in a career that has already spanned more than a decade and several different corners of the entertainment industry. By the time she entered the vertical space, she had already accumulated experience in comedy, drama, thriller films, producing, and digital content creation.

Her versatility is reflected in the kinds of roles she continues to pursue. In a 2023 interview, she said her next dream role was tied between becoming a romantic lead and an action star.

"I personally love those feel-good romance movies," she said.

Creating Her Own Path

Throughout her interviews, one message appears again and again: stay focused on your own journey.

Luthman has repeatedly encouraged aspiring actors not to compare themselves to others, noting that every performer follows a different path and it’s never a competition.

She believes rejection is a natural part of acting and that the right opportunities ultimately find the right people.

For Luthman, success comes from understanding why you are pursuing something in the first place. Her advice:

"Figure out your 'why'."

That perspective has carried her from community theater stages in Ohio to television sets, film productions, creative ventures of her own, and now the rapidly growing world of vertical dramas.

Along the way, she has remained committed to following her interests wherever they lead—whether that's a film set, a writing project, or a garage filled with tools and engines.
