His path into acting was not a conventional one. White originally attended Brigham Young University to study art and is also a painter. While at BYU, he enrolled in an introductory acting class, an experience that would ultimately change the direction of his career.

The class led to additional acting courses, stage performances, and student films. Encouraged by instructors who saw potential in him, White began pursuing acting professionally.
